USPS mail forwarding not working it had been working
for a short time, but we've not received anything in
the least for a couple of months now. It might be
helpful to chalk that up to us just having done an
excellent job of updating our address with everyone
who sends us mail, but we all know of separate special
personal pieces of mail that never arrived.
Furthermore, we sent a test piece of mail from one
among our office addresses to our old address under my
name, and it neither was forwarded nor returned So I
assume the new resident there tossed it (even though
we made bound to make it appear as if a private
letter, not junk mail), or it got lost somewhere along
the way.
While all this is often happening, almost weekly we
receive mail for the previous owners of our house. We
all know them, and that they swear up and down that
they too enabled "permanent" forwarding once they
moved. None of those is strangely addressed (misspelt
names, lousy handwriting, etc.), or seem to possess
any characteristics that ought to throw off the
forwarding. They're all very clear-cut pieces of mail
for the previous residents.
So this seems to be two cases of USPS forwarding
simply failing to figure as promised.
What is our recourse here? Is there anything to
realize by complaining to the post office? Should we
report to the post office at our old address or our
new one? How do I contact them? The USPS website
doesn't have a telephone number for the individual
post offices, and it's too far to re-evaluate there
physically.
And how does this work anyway? Is that the system just
up to some overworked person during a sorting facility
coitus interruptus the things that are alleged to be
forwarded, or is it somehow automated? I can not
imagine humans handling the quantity that has got to
undergo the system, but I also don't see how this
might be done effectively by a machine
By the way, I realize that it's our responsibility to
update our address with people and that we have done
that the maximum amount as we will. But some companies
only send us to stuff once or twice a year, so it's
hard to recollect all of them. And individuals, well,
even some who we sent moving announcements to look to
not have bothered to update their address books.

Your local office should be able to assist you with this. Nobody knows what's going on. Have you received a letter confirming that the forwards are satisfactory? In the meanwhile,
you are responsible for notifying all senders that your location has changed. On the other hand,
