Broaching is a machining process that uses a tool called a broach to cut and remove the unnecessary part of a metal piece. Broaching is used when precision machining is required, especially for odd shapes. Broaching is mostly of two types;high precision fastener that are linear and rotary. In linear broaching, the broach is run against a surface of the work piece to cut and remove the metal part whereas in rotary broaching, the broach is rotated and pressed into the work piece to cut an axis symmetric shape. Broaches are shaped similar to a saw, except the height of the teeth increases over the length of the tool.

These tools can be further categorized by their use, purpose, motion, construction and function. Most of broaches are made from HSS (High Speed Steel) or other alloy steels; TIN coatings are common on High Speed Steel to enhance the durability of the tools. Rotary Broaching is a precision method that is mostly used to produce internal polygon forms at a rapid speed. The rotary broaches are available in various shapes that include but are not limited to Square, Hexagon, Double Hexagon, Torx, Involute, Double D, Serration, Spur Gear, Spline or Star etc. There are two inevitable components used in this technique and that arerotary broach tool and rotary broach tool holder. The modern engineering has given rotary broaching a whole new dimension and nowadays, it has completely revolutionized various industrial applications especially in the Aerospace, Automotive, Fastener and Plumbing Industries all across the world. In addition to this, rotary broaching has various uses in the Medical industry such as bone screw and implant applications with standard shapes and sizes. Due to huge demand of machine high strength fastener standards for surgical equipment in surgical procedures, tools tend to be very precise. If you are into one of the variety of precision machining companies and are looking for the best rotary broach tools and tool holders then you would be delighted to know that there are numerous manufacturers that are specialized in designing and manufacturing top of the line products. These dedicated manufacturers are also well versed when it comes to manufacturing customized rotary broach tools and tool holders.
