 Progress Report:

Well, now I have the vacuform set for the Type IXC . It is about 6 inches larger than the Type VIIC in 1/72. The overall length of the hull is 106.6cm.

Now the bad news, the hull has no detail at all. So I will have a major job detailing ei. hull weld lines rivets etc..  Also the tower is unuseable in its present form. I will need to use a Type VIIC/41 Tower and modify it with a different Wintergarten than the U-995 tower. Also, the snorkel on a Type IX on the starbord side not the port side as on the Type IX. These are just some of the modifications I will need to do to produce a Type IXC/40.

I am also waiting for the photo etch . The International Money Order I sent is stuck in a bank!!

So there you go.....

Regards,

Dan

 Hello All !

Progress Report:

Well, I have cut out the four sections of the type IX Hull. I also taped them together just to get an idea of how this is going together.  They went together well! I have alot of work to do. I am still waiting for my Photo etch from my friend from Czeh Republic.

Regards,

Dan

 Hello!

Thanks for the comment! I have alot of work ahead of me is right! I glued the sections of the hull together now, and used " green stuff" to fill in the seams and some of the gaps. This is only the beginning of filling the imperfections on this hull. Then I have to start putting in the detail including all the weld seams for the hull.

I have been told that the photo etch is on the way so I can start putting on the hull vents etc...

More to come....

Regards,

Dan

Hello All!

Progress Report:

I now have the photo etch! Wow! it is really nice! So now I have started to figure out where all of the hull floods and vents etc. go. I have a set of plans for the Type IX C/40 from a man in Malaya!

More to come.....

Hello All!

Progress Report:

I have cut out and placed all the hull vents and floods into the hull.

I have also made the cut outs in the bow area and placed the vents for the cut-out area for the Type IXC /40 . Next I will need to scratch build a pressure hull because the floods and vents in the hull show alot of empty space .

More to come....
