The Eagles traded up in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft to snag tight end Dallas Goedert out South Dakota State Youth Customized Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys , and he was expected to a big role in Philly¡¯s TE-friendly offense. In the week before the start of the season, offensive Coordinate Mike Groh said that they would need the rookie to be a big contributor this season ¡ª that didn¡¯t happen. Groh said after Week 2 that they needed to work to get Goedert more involved ¡ª and on Sunday, they did.In the Eagles¡¯ first offensive drive of the game, and in the first series led by Carson Wentz in 2018, the rookie finally snagged his first career touchdown ¡ª and the first of Wentz¡¯s return.Goedert finished the day with seven receptions for 73 yards, and should get more opportunities with Wentz back in the game. The quarterback seemed to have confidence in the rookie tight end, and got the TE position more involved than week¡¯s past ¡ª even if they didn¡¯t really have a choice due to all the skill player injuries. Before Sunday¡¯s game against the Colts, Goedert only had one reception for four yards ¡ª he almost scored during the season opener on a deep ball into the corner of the end zone, but was just out of bounds. Here¡¯s to the first score of what should be a very lucrative first year for Goedert ¡ª and the Eagles.¡°He¡¯s earned it, obviously,¡± said Doug Pederson regarding Goedert¡¯s increased playing time. ¡°He¡¯s smart. He¡¯s talented. We see it in practice. It¡¯s just time to play and cut him loose a little bit and don¡¯t keep him back. It was part of the game plan again to do that with two tight ends, three tight ends, but at the same time, as he gets more and more comfortable with the offense and find specific plays for him, he¡¯s just going to get better and better. It¡¯s a combination, really, of all those comments.¡±Eagles News: Carson Wentz stars in a new commercial that Philadelphia fans will enjoy Let¡¯s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ... Carson Wentz brings aggression that the Eagles¡¯ offense has lacked with Nick Foles - BGNIf you¡¯re concerned that the roster¡¯s current make-up looks more like the 2016 season than 2018 in terms of pass catching depth, don¡¯t be. Wentz still smokes Foles in aggression and downfield throwing in both areas despite being more conservative in his rookie year. Wentz is going to fit some fastballs into some tight windows, which will be a welcome change. The question is, will his receivers make the plays they need to make for him? Either way www.eaglesfootballauthentics.com , it will be a breath of fresh air seeing a quarterback more willing to challenge defenses.Five Carson Wentz over/unders for Eagles¡¯ Week 3 matchup vs. Colts - PhillyVoiceCarson Wentz passer rating: 101.9. Why the very specific number of 101.9? Well, it¡¯s simple; that was Wentz¡¯s passer rating from a year ago, when he threw for 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. Interestingly enough, however, he only would¡¯ve hit the over in five of 13 games last year, and none of his first four. Sure, it took a healthy Wentz over a month to hit triple digits last year, but I¡¯m still taking the over here. This guy¡¯s really that good. And remember, even if he doesn¡¯t hit the over here, it¡¯s hardly cause for panic. Familiar Foe - Iggles BlitzThe Eagles haven¡¯t played the Colts since 2014, but this game will have familiar faces. Frank Reich helped the Eagles develop Carson Wentz over the past two seasons and then helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl. Now he¡¯s the head coach in Indy. Reich¡¯s defensive coordinator is Matt Eberflus, who came to Indy from Dallas. Simply put, the Colts schemes will look more than a little familiar to Eagles players and coaches. That¡¯s the good news. The bad news is that the Eagles schemes will be very familiar to the Colts coaches. That means this game is more likely to be won on execution than scheming. I¡¯m not sure if that¡¯s a good or bad thing for the Eagles, who have been sloppy over the past two weeks.Carson Wentz¡¯s teammates see ¡®greatness¡¯ as QB¡¯s debut nears - ESPNCornerback Sidney Jones was asked what he¡¯s seen out of Wentz recently. ¡°I¡¯ve seen greatness, man,¡± he replied. Wentz ran the scout team in practice during the first two weeks of the regular season while awaiting medical clearance. It was a way to get work against the first-team defense while providing Jim Schwartz¡¯s unit with optimal looks. Jones pointed to one play in particular that stuck out. It was in the red zone. Wentz ran a bootleg to the backside of the defense, evaded the rush and looked downfield, only to find that his receiver was double-covered. But he noticed one of the defensive backs had slipped off the receiver a hair, and he delivered a perfect back-shoulder throw for the touchdown.Lawlor: Colts-Eagles Game Preview - PE.comFrom the moment Carson Wentz tore his ACL last December, the big question has been when he would return. Wentz wanted to be back for the season opener Philadelphia Eagles T-Shirt , but that didn¡¯t happen. The Eagles were thinking big picture and not arbitrary timelines. They wanted Wentz to be healthy for the whole year and the future. It took a lot of discipline on the part of the Eagles, as well as Wentz, but they did the right thing and made it a medical decision and not a football decision. All of that is in the past now as Wentz prepares to take the field on Sunday. The franchise quarterback has returned. It¡¯s a good thing Wentz is back. The Eagles are 1-1 and have a beat-up offense. The passing game has been erratic through two weeks. Now they prepare to play a Colts team that easily could be 2-0 and has looked good this year. At this point, the Eagles don¡¯t want Wentz. They need him.The Kapadia 10: Eagles-Colts thoughts, numbers and predictions - The AthleticOffensively, the Colts are a team that has to methodically move the ball down the field. Through two games, on average, Andrew Luck is getting the ball out of his hands in 2.46 seconds, the fifth-fastest time among quarterbacks. He¡¯s connected on just one pass that¡¯s traveled 20 or more yards past the line of scrimmage and has attempted just five of those downfield throws. Luck is completing 71.4 percent of his passes but averaging only 5.93 YPA, which ranks 28th. To be successful, the Colts have to string together long drives and consistently convert on third downs. Indianapolis is playing without left tackle Anthony Castonzo and tight end Jack Doyle. This seems like it¡¯d be a good opportunity for Derek Barnett to get his first sack of the season.Carson Wentz¡¯s comeback is complete and the headstrong Eagles QB is already on to his next challenge - InquirerWentz isn¡¯t accustomed to failure and not getting what he wants. He won championships in all levels of football. He scored straight A¡¯s in every year of schooling. His success has reinforced his self-confidence. When Wentz desires something, he isn¡¯t afraid to voice it. Colts head coach and former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich saw it up close for two years. ¡±He¡¯s not only opinionated, but he¡¯s very mature. You love this about him, but he has a stubbor¡ª,¡± Reich said Wednesday during a conference call, before cutting himself off. ¡°So he¡¯s going to voice his opinion.¡± Reich was referencing Wentz¡¯s offensive preferences, but his hardheadedness applied to the Eagles¡¯ handling of his injury, as well. Pederson and the medical staff had to often remind him that they were looking out for his ¡ª and theirs ¡ª long-term interests. Almost all the great quarterbacks are headstrong. And Wentz backs up his bite. ¡±He¡¯s a control freak,¡± Eagles center Jason Kelce said. ¡°He wants to know everything. He wants to have his hand in everything. He wants to be involved in every aspect. It¡¯s what makes him a special and unique player. It¡¯s hard to do. So few quarterbacks do it because the amount of work he puts into it during the week.¡±Roob¡¯s 10 observations: Something to watch with Wentz, recent domination at Linc Philadelphia Eagles Hats , more - NBCSPThe Eagles¡¯ defense needs to bounce back from that loss Sunday with a vintage Jim Schwartz performance, and I think they will. At the Linc? The Eagles have allowed just 48 points in their last six games and only 11.7 per game since the start of last year, lowest in the league. Andrew Luck looks healthy and efficient again and should thrive in Frank Reich¡¯s system. T.Y. Hilton hasn¡¯t hit a big one yet but might be the most underrated receiver in the NFL over the last six years. The Colts can come in here and win if the Eagles aren¡¯t careful. The defense needs to really take command and pressure Luck, stuff the run, force a couple turnovers and take some pressure off an offense that has a new quarterback, a shaky lineup of receivers and a banged-up running back corps. I¡¯d really like to see something like a 13 on the scoreboard under ¡°Colts¡± by 4:30 p.m. Sunday.Injury Report: Week 3 - RotoworldThe Eagles get Carson Wentz (knee) back but will be without Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) Sunday. The team signed rookie Josh Adams, who rushed for 90 yards on 23 carries (3.91 YPA) in the preseason, from their practice squad and still have Wendell Smallwood on the roster, but this is ultimately Corey Clement¡¯s job to lose. Clement (quad, questionable) handled five carries (including the team¡¯s only red zone rushing attempt) and received four targets in the two quarters Ajayi missed Sunday. Clement is Roto Pat¡¯s No. 17 RB in Week 3. It¡¯s still worth noting coach Doug Pederson said he has ¡°to make sure that we have the right combination of plays for [Clement]¡± even before he showed on Philly¡¯s injury report. For Philadelphia Eagles fan from Harrisburg, cerebral palsy won¡¯t get in the way of first game - PennLiveJames Dietsche knew his friend Tommy was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan. When Dietsche drove by Tommy in Harrisburg shortly after the Eagles won Super Bowl LII -- the first in franchise history -- Tommy unleashed the classic ¡°E-A-G-L-E-S¡± chant. Later, Tommy showed Dietsche the newest addition to his coffee mug collection: an Eagles Super Bowl mug. Right then, Dietsche had to ask Tommy something on his mind: Had Tommy, who lives alone in Harrisburg and has cerebral palsy, ever been to see his favorite NFL team play? The answer was no, and Tommy¡¯s reasoning dismayed Dietsche even more. Tommy can get around his apartment just fine, but he needs a wheelchair to cover longer distances. In the type of crowd that would fill an NFL stadium, Tommy was worried he would get stuck.Terrell Owens¡¯ beef with Donovan McNabb was must-see TV - SB NationTerrell Owens joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. Terrell Owens left the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005. His beef with Donovan McNabb caused a rift in a team coming off of 4 straight NFC Championships, and 1 Super Bowl appearance. It was about money. It was about power. It was all beef....Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio
