LONDON£¬ May 14 (Xinhua) -- It has taken more than 250 volunteers three years to complete£¬ and finally a model of the English city of Bristol made entirely of wool went on show for the first time Saturday.

The team used thousands of kilometers of wool to show the city in a new light£¬ working with local artist Vicky Harrison.

Familiar landmarks£¬ such as Bristol's world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge£¬ and city landmarks have been faithfully reproduced£¬ along with a historic ship£¬ the SS Great Britain£¬ one of the city's major tourist attractions.

But so detailed is the work it also includes tiny bicycles and local public houses£¬ all in knitted form.

The finished work£¬ known as Briswool£¬ went on show today at the M Shed Museum where it will be on display until June 12.

The whole work spans an area in the museum measuring 6 meters by 4.5 meters. It is mostly crochet work£¬ with some parts traditionally knitted.

"Lots of people are visiting the exhibition on its first day. It has attracted a lot of interest£¬" said a spokesman at the museum.
