The tonnage king would be Otto Kretschmer of U99, I'm building a model of U99 right at this moment.

This commander was born in Riga Latvia.

He sank a total of 225.204 GRT, Sank 1 warship, 552 ton.

On patrols he would create activities (chess matches, ships newspaper, reading books) so the crew would not get bored.

In 1943 he became the first U-boat officer to receive the Knights Cross w/ oakleaves, swords and diamonds.

In July 1943 became commander of the Marineschule in Flensberg- Murwick, (where future Kreigsmarine officers were trained)

Only days after the war ended he was shot and killed by one of his own sentries when he failed to respond to the challenge.

        Who am I???

That would be Erich Topp... Off to France now, catching the late night shuttle. I'll be back with my question, Kameraden!

Sorry Herr Kaleun

Erich Topp is incorrect, Topp just went on his final patrol 26/12/05 R.I.P.
